Why Detroit is slowly becoming Westchester-Rooted

A Bochur sits in a Zal anywhere in the world. There's one thought on his mind. It's simple. Clear. Straightforward.

This thought was carefully crafted by many brilliant people around the world. Safe. Available. Clever.

But there's one place in the world, where everything looks very different, it makes the average visitor quite disturbed. It's Oak Park MI. It's a place of disgust and complexity.

You ask them? They are very happy with their style. But here is where it all goes sour.

They themselves don't realize how behind the scenes, where no one is looking, everything is changing. There are a group of men whom are focused on goal. That is? Destroy Detroit. Are they successful? Yes, way more the imaginable. And this is all about to be revealed to the public. But those behind it will forever be disclosed.

The question, who are they? What do they want? And should we stop them or support them?

For those that wish, join me on my journey as we take a deep dive into this pressing topic.

If this is your first time reading my writings, keep reading, it will most definitely be rewarding.

If you've ready my stuff before, you know what to do.

Detroit Mesivta Ends First Set

The issue lies in one general question: Why was Detroit opened? What void did it come to fill? The answer will give us tremendous clarity for our topic at hand.

It all began Winter, 1959. In a humble office scattered with papers, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Just four miles away from the famous Ricardo Klement.

Yitzchak, was disturbed by a loud knock on the door. Before he could even rise to greet his guest a voice proclaimed "You are being followed".

Yitzchok's rushed to the door, to only see that his guest had already vanished.

He knew it was too late.

As he was about to close his door he noticed an envelope, he picks it up and there is a letter inside with one word on it: DON'T!!!.

Yitzchak is startled and he gets himself a cup of water and sits down on his couch and makes a "Brocho Shehakol" and sips the water slowly as he ponders at the events that just happened.

That was the last thing he would remember that night.

Circling Back

Let's leave Argentina behind, maybe for another time. Now circling back to our topic at hand.

Behind every Yeshiva, behind all their rules and policies lies a vision. Crafted carefully by those that dreamed of the Yeshiva way back, long before it's existence. The job of Hanhallah becomes to keep guiding their Yeshiva in the light of their vision.

Travel with me to Westchester NY. There you'll find basically nothing. Yes, there's a large thriving Yeshiva, but beyond the outer layer, there's total void.

No guidance. No structure. Just silent chaos. Secret confusion. The type that takes it's bochurim years to discover.

In the high of Yeshiva, swimming through farbrengens and signs, life feels exciting but at it's core, there's snakes and scorpions.

Years later the alumni start to see their true self rearing it's ugly head. Painful.

Detroit. Once a place of deep vision and unique purpose, now finds itself thriving off echoes from Mishkan that are fading away.

The Hanhalla is judging merely the signs and pier pressure of the bochurim surrounding "good things".

You'll hear them say "Detroit is still the same. The bochurim still don't follow sports." In my opinion that's shlallow.

Beyond the do's and don'ts lies emptiness.

Where's the identity? Where the deep passion? unfortunately, that's all fading away.

So, in truth, this Westchester that Detroit has been mocking is becoming their own identity.

Now this didn't happen overnight. Who's behind this, and what their motive is, we'll save for the next thread.

Love to hear your feedback. Drop a comment.

This isn't easy, but it's time we face the facts, before it gets to late.
